The Absurd History of Gialappa’s Band: Trailer for Walter Veltroni’s Documentary on the Legendary Trio

The new documentary by Walter Veltroni, The Absurd History of the Gialappa’s Band, will be presented in the Special Screenings of the Rome Film Festival, dedicated to the trio of hosts who defined television satire with their “Mai dire…” for over forty years, formed by three jovial friends named Giorgio Gherarducci, Marco Santin and Carlo Taranto, the first two still active with their popular Gialappa Show. After writing an autobiographical book the three now recount their story in this film, as usual aided by the comic talents they discovered or launched toward a career of great prominence. Some of these you will see in the official trailer for a story we cannot wait to relive together with them.

The Absurd History of the Gialappa’s Band, in cinemas from October 22

We had forgotten the most important information: even if you do not live in Rome and you will not be able to see it at the festival, The Absurd History of the Gialappa’s Band, produced by Attilio De Razza and Nicola Picone with Anna Foglietta and Paolo Sopranzetti, will be available when it opens in cinemas on October 22, with Medusa Film. And we have no doubt you will be many, since the film not only presents the entertaining characters made famous by the trio’s show and their protagonists today, but also offers the opportunity to hear from the protagonists, with their caustic and irreverent humor, how it all began, almost by chance, and continued then in a series of broadcasts that, despite their format, represented a unique training ground for humor and freedom of thought. Through a seemingly light topic we trace 40 years of Italian history to discover how we have changed and how the world of comedy and show business has changed (and unfortunately for certain aspects not for the better).
