The Adventures of Cliff Booth by David Fincher, a spin-off of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood by Quentin Tarantino and written by the latter, will be in theaters from the end of November (even in IMAX), before landing on Netflix at Christmas. The entertaining stuntman played by Brad Pitt won’t be the sole protagonist on both the big screen and the small screen, because at the beginning of December in the USA HarperCollins will publish Tarantino’s novel based on his own screenplay: a path coherent with that of the previous feature film.

It will simply be titled “The Adventures of Cliff Booth” the novel that Quentin Tarantino has derived from his own screenplay for the film by David Fincher with Brad Pitt, i.e., it will bear the same simplified Italian title as the feature film, namely The Adventures of Cliff Booth (while the film’s full original title would be The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, literally “The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth“). In fact, Tarantino in 2019 had already drawn a novel from the previous Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, which then arrived in Italy in 2021, published by La Nave di Teseo, which in 2023 also disseminated in our country his essay “Cinema Speculation“.
But what precisely will these new misadventures of Cliff be? We can glean clues from the book’s general synopsis, set in 1977, eight years after the events told in Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood: “The fabulous sixties are long over, but Clifford Booth holds on: war hero, stunt double, bartender, projectionist, with occasional ‘clandestine services‘ for friends…” It is imaginable that these very “clandestine services” will land him in trouble again. Remember that in the film, co-produced by Tarantino himself and Pitt’s Plan B, the cast also includes Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller and Timothy Olyphant, among others.
