The Magic of Pride and Prejudice Returns: Official Trailer for Netflix’s New Miniseries

The timeless charm of Jane Austen is poised to captivate a new generation of viewers. Netflix has released the official trailer for Pride and Prejudice, the new six-episode miniseries arriving on December 3. The acclaimed writer Dolly Alderton is tapped to pay tribute to one of the most beloved stories in English literature, a tale that, more than two centuries after its publication, continues to set hearts racing.

Pride and Prejudice: plot and cast of the Netflix miniseries

At the center of the narrative are the five Bennet sisters, compelled to confront society’s expectations and the uncertainties of the future when a group of wealthy bachelors arrives at their home. In a world where marriage represents a fundamental prospect for the security and happiness of young women, every encounter can alter the course of events. Jane Bennet (Freya Mavor, Industry) falls for the charming Mr. Bingley (Daryl McCormack, Bad Sisters), while her sister Elizabeth (Emma Corrin, The Crown) finds herself drawn into a far more complicated relationship with Mr. Darcy (Jack Lowden, Slow Horses), the proud friend of Bingley. Between attraction and distrust, the two leads must reckon with their own prejudices and initial impressions, showing how hard it is to distinguish appearance from reality.

The trailer previews a story in which love, family, and reputation intertwine, keeping at the heart the strength of Austen’s characters. Unforeseen meetings, family scandals, and feelings difficult to decipher will accompany Elizabeth on a path of growth that leads her to reconsider her beliefs and to understand the true nature of love. The miniseries aims to speak to both longtime fans of the novel and newcomers approaching the Bennet saga for the first time, preserving the essence of a timeless classic.

The rest of the cast includes Oscar winner Olivia Colman (The Favourite) and Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat) in the roles of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet, the parents of the five sisters—she often worried about finding good husbands for the daughters and he a sarcastic observer of the family’s dynamics. Rhea Norwood (Heartstopper) and the newcomers Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery portray the other sisters Lydia, Mary and Kitty respectively. Jamie Demetriou (Afterparty) brings to life Mr. Collins, a Bennet cousin determined to marry one of the sisters for practical reasons. Siena Kelly (Black Mirror) is cast as Caroline, Bingley’s competitive sister who looks on Elizabeth with suspicion and desires to win Darcy for herself. Louis Partridge (House of Guinness) and Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve) are Mr. Wickham, an attractive yet unreliable officer with a controversial past linked to Darcy and the Bennet family, and Lady Catherine de Bourgh, an imperious and domineering noblewoman, Darcy’s cousin.
