The third season of Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches begins to unfold. On the occasion of New York Comic-Con, the American network AMC released the teaser trailer for the new cycle of episodes, also announcing a new title that hints at the direction the story will take. Airing in the United States from December 30 (in Italy streaming on Netflix), Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches: Salem Coven marks an important milestone for the production, which is preparing to explore an even darker chapter of the Mayfair family saga. At the center of the story will still be Rowan Fielding, played by Alexandra Daddario, a woman who has discovered she belongs to a powerful dynasty of witches and who must learn to live with supernatural abilities increasingly difficult to control.
Mayfair Witches: What to Expect in Season 3
The main novelty of the third season concerns the setting: the story will move from New Orleans to Salem, Massachusetts, a location deeply tied to the imagery of witchcraft and the famous witch trials of the 17th century. This change will allow the authors to expand the series’ mythology, introducing new families linked to magic and characters destined to further complicate the existing balances. The production will still draw inspiration from the literary world created by Anne Rice, but will grant itself greater freedom in reworking events and characters. The season will also see the entry of new performers, including Betsy Brandt, Michiel Huisman, Eliza Scanlen, James Frain and Omar Maskati, who will join the leads already known to the audience. The goal is to explore the origins and the different manifestations of witchcraft, weaving historical elements, folklore and supernatural tension into a narrative that will not be limited to faithfully retracing the novels.
For Rowan, the new chapter could represent a decisive turning point. After the events of the second season, the protagonist finds herself facing the consequences of choices that have greatly amplified her powers, opening up questions about how she will decide to use them. The line separating good from evil will become increasingly difficult to identify, while family conflicts and dark presences will continue to influence her fate. And while Ciprien Grieve (Tongayi Chirisa) and Cortland Mayfair (Harry Hamlin) will also play important roles in the plot developments, the new Salem setting promises to broaden the conflict, introducing unprecedented threats and alliances.
