It is once again a horror, the sixth feature directed by Federico Zampaglione, the man behind Tiromancino: it is titled The Nameless Ballad and we will see it in theaters starting on November 5 after Italian previews that will take place at the Ravenna Nightmare Film Festival (Saturday, October 17) and at the Lucca Comics & Games (Saturday, October 31).
Premiered worldwide at London’s Tubi FrightFest, The Nameless Ballad was written by Zampaglione together with Barbara Baraldi, a writer and editorial curator of Dylan Dog and of the film’s lead actress, Giglia Marra. The film follows Sam Gallo, a 27-year-old English musician of Italian origin, who plummets into a devastating creative crisis and into a dependency on drugs. Crushed by the pressures of his entourage, which demands a new hit, he returns to Italy, to the places of his childhood, in the desperate attempt to rediscover the lost inspiration. But in the house where he chooses to isolate himself, he comes into contact with dark presences that seem to feed on his fears, his anguish, and his desperate need to create music. What he believed to be his last chance at rebirth slowly turns into a nightmare, where the boundary between reality and the supernatural becomes increasingly thin.
