The Thing Meets The Silence of the Innocents: The King Says It – The Cycle Trailer

So: it’s true that Stephen King is an enormous writer, but that his cinematic and television tastes are often debatable, yet reading that he would have defined a new horror as something that makes two masterpieces meet and clash, which are John Carpenter’s The Thing and Jonathan Demme’s The Silence of the Lambs, would raise a few eyebrows for anyone. The film in question is titled The Cycle, it is a Shudder Original that will be available for streaming on the American platform from October 23, and it is directed by a filmmaker named Jordan Downey, who also co-wrote it with Kevin Stewart. The story centers on a forensic anthropologist named Meg, played by Deborah Ann Woll (the unforgettable star of True Blood, and also Karen in the series Daredevil), who is summoned to the scene of a crime where two corpses have been savagely torn apart and mutilated and, not far away, a third decomposed body. The trouble begins when Meg discovers that the third body belongs to her father, who had abandoned her when she was a child: a discovery that triggers an investigation within an investigation and pushes Meg to confront her past, along with dark truths that will begin to haunt her. The Cycle is also one of the titles competing in the TOHorror Fantastic Film Fest, which will take place in Turin from October 20 to 25.
