Rumors from the past few months proved right: The General won’t stay in Tulsa forever. Ten days before the fourth season’s premiere, Paramount+ announces that its hit crime drama Tulsa King has already been renewed for an additional, fifth cycle of episodes. This will present a new setting, far from the usual Oklahoma, and will introduce several new characters.
Tulsa King: First Details of Season 5
The fifth season of Tulsa King, whose filming has already begun, will bring Dwight ‘The General’ Manfredi back to his mafia roots. As you may recall, at the start of the series, the character played by Sylvester Stallone, a New York mobster, was released after serving 25 years in prison. His boss, however, had sent him to Tulsa, essentially in exile. Dwight arrived in a city he did not know and began building a new criminal organization, trying to figure out who could be an ally and who might be an enemy. In keeping with the narrative developments of the new chapter, which kicks off on October 16, streaming on Paramount+ every Friday, Dwight will return to New York, where he will inevitably encounter a whole host of new characters.
Not much is known yet about them, only that they will be regulars and will be portrayed by Erik Palladino (ER), Glenn Fleshler (Billions), Nickola Shreli (Power Book IV: Force) and Anthony Skordi (Law & Order: Organized Crime). It was also announced that Scarlet Rose Stallone, Sylvester’s younger daughter and a regular since the inaugural season as Spencer, a Tulsa barista whose passion for horses leads her, through Dwight, to the Fennario Ranch, would be promoted to the regular cast, gradually becoming a trusted confidant of the criminal.
Due to this narrative upheaval, filming for the series has shifted from Atlanta to the real New York. “We’ll stay here for four or five months,” Stallone, who is also an executive producer, stated. Meanwhile, even in the forthcoming season, the protagonist’s ties to the Big Apple will put some pressure on him, particularly through the figure of the powerful mob boss Quiet Ray Renzetti (James Russo). Showrunner Terence Winter told TVLine: “We begin the fourth season with Quiet Ray and Dwight more hostile toward each other than ever… and their rivalry and hostility intensify as the season progresses.” Furthermore, “his enemies come not only from within organized crime, but also from the worlds of technology and politics.”
