Undercover Cameras Expose Pedophiles: New Primetime Trailer

An official new trailer has arrived for Primetime, the A24 feature starring Robert Pattinson, which was unveiled a few days ago in competition at the Venice Film Festival. Slotted for release on a particularly busy day, it found itself media-wise squeezed between the grand return to Venice of Nanni Moretti and the Lido arrival of the Gallagher brothers with their Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger. Primetime will be in Italian cinemas from October 15, distributed by I Wonder Pictures, and tells a story inspired by real events.

The tale centers on Chris Hansen, an ambitious and unrestrained American television journalist who, at the outset of the 2000s, helped reshape (not for the better) the face of television in the USA and around the world as the public face and driving force of a program called “To Catch a Predator“, in which, using bait, predators who online contacted minors would be lured in front of cameras to arrange meetings. The format, which enjoyed great success, altered the language of television by redefining the boundaries between entertainment, information, and justice, paving the way for the so-called “media shaming” with consequences that could be fatal.

In the film’s cast, directed by documentary filmmaker Lance Oppennheim, here making his first foray into narrative feature directing, are also Skyler Gisondo, Merritt Weaver, and the singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers.

Here is the new trailer for Primetime.
