Villa Medici Film Festival: the numbers and the opening night
There are three screens on which the festival’s films will be shown, one of them outdoors, and 12 international films in competition. The official selection of shorts and feature films for this festival, which always sells out, can be found on the official website, together with access details: https://villamedici.it/it/programme/festival-di-film-2026/. The event is organized into three sections: the international competition, which presents twelve recent films, the Focus program, dedicated to auteur works out of competition, with the “Cartes blanches” showcases reserved for members of the jury, and exclusive meetings with the directors, and finally, the grand evenings in the Piazzale, which host outdoor premieres. This edition is dedicated to the memory of Lili Hinstin (1977-2026), a prominent figure in the film world, programmer and artistic director of festivals, who began her path at Villa Medici as a film programmer from 2005 to 2010, before guiding the birth of the Film Festival, of which she was a member of the selection and organization committee until her passing. This edition will be opened Wednesday, September 16 at 8:30 PM with the outdoor screening at 8:30 PM of Les Yeux Verts, by Fanny Liatard and Jérémy Trouilh in the presence of the directors.
