VisionQuest has returned to streaming on Disney+ with a new episode, the penultimate one, and in the meantime the showrunner Terry Matalas has confirmed one of the alleged easter eggs inserted in the sesto episodio set largely in Madripoor. Noted by sharp-eyed fans and quickly debated online, the easter egg concerns a cosmic figure introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to What If: where did the Watcher appear?
VisionQuest and that surprise What If cameo confirmed by the showrunner
Paul Bettany is back as Vision, and so far VisionQuest has brought back several MCU characters, from Ultron portrayed this time physically by James Spader to Raza from Iron Man, and during the sixth episode it offered a very subtle easter egg that could have gone unnoticed. The more attentive fans who spotted it then obtained official confirmation from Terry Matalas. On social media, the showrunner admitted that it is indeed the Watcher, that dark figure who appeared in the episode.
In the course of the sesto episodio, in one of the scenes, you can notice in the background a figure immersed in darkness with glowing eyes, lurking. An extremely brief appearance and easy to miss, especially since the character does not interact directly with the others, yet fans noticed its glowing eyes, quickly linking it to the Watcher.
Good eye. Or… eyes.

Also known as Uatu, he was introduced in the animated Marvel series What If… with the original voice by Jeffrey Wright. His role is to observe the timelines of the Multiverse and witness the consequences of the choices made by various individuals without interacting, or at least that is the intended rule. But why was he involved in VisionQuest? This isn’t the first time that Uatu has appeared in the MCU: for example, he has also been spotted in Daredevil: Rebirth at Vanessa Fisk’s death; he generally appears at moments of major upheaval, so what does this scene suggest about Vision’s future?
