The return of Vision takes shape in Rome as well. Paul Bettany himself, who reprises the iconic Marvel character, will indeed be among the guests at the twenty-first edition of the Rome Film Festival to present VisionQuest, the new Marvel Television series that will premiere on October 14, 2026 on Disney+, also in Italy. But that’s not all: Disney will bring to the Festival, scheduled from October 13 to 25, two other titles: the second season of All’s Fair, Ryan Murphy’s legal drama, and the 20th Century Studios and Imagine Entertainment film Whalefall: Inside the Whale.
VisionQuest lands in Rome: Meeting the lead and the series plot
Accompanying Bettany in the capital will be actor Ruaridh Mollica and Terry Matalas, the series’ creator. The trio will present the first two episodes of VisionQuest, along with the first ten minutes of the third episode, shown as an preview. The WandaVision spin-off’s story picks up with Vision rebooted and on the run from those who wanted to weaponize him. Forced to live in the shadows, the android seeks a new meaning to his existence and confronts the artificial intelligences embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and Ultron. The situation shifts when a bounty on his head compels him to flee together with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who might be his reincarnated son. In his flight from pursuers, Vision will have to face his own nature, Ultron’s influence, and the mystery surrounding Thomas.
In the cast, besides Paul Bettany and Ruaridh Mollica, are James Spader, Todd Stashwick, T’Nia Miller, Lauren Morais, Orla Brady, Diane Morgan, Polly Frame, Henry Lewis and Jonathan Sayer, with Emily Hampshire and James D’Arcy. The series is created by Terry Matalas and is directed by Christopher J. Byrne, Gandja Monteiro, Vincenzo Natali and Matalas.
All’s Fair 2 at the Rome Film Festival
Another Disney-branded event will be the world premiere of the second season of All’s Fair, Ryan Murphy’s legal drama. In Rome, attendees will include Kim Kardashian, Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash-Betts, and Sarah Paulson. The new season will debut in November on Disney+ in Italy and on an international scale. The lawyers at Grant, Ronson & Greene return to tackle fresh scandals, secrets and alliances. Friendships will be put to the test, and a revelation could threaten the very existence of the firm. The cast also features Teyana Taylor, Matthew Noszka, Cauã Reymond and Glenn Close.
Whalefall: Inside the Whale, the survival challenge
Closing the Disney program is Whalefall: Inside the Whale, the survival-thriller from 20th Century Studios and Imagine Entertainment, which will have its world premiere in the Grand Public section and will arrive in Italian theaters on October 15. Directed by Brian Duffield and written by Duffield together with Daniel Kraus, the film is adapted from Kraus’s novel, published in Italy by Edizioni E/O. The cast includes Austin Abrams, Josh Brolin, Elisabeth Shue, John Ortiz, Jane Levy and Emily Rudd. The protagonist is Jay Gardiner (Austin Abrams), who, after his father’s death (Josh Brolin), dives off the central California coast in search of his remains. During the dive, he is swallowed by a gigantic whale. Trapped inside the creature’s belly with only an hour of oxygen left, Jay must find a way to save himself. To succeed, he may have to rely precisely on the lessons his father left him.
