When VisionQuest lands on Disney+ streaming on October 14, 2026, audiences will encounter what could be considered the third installment of the acclaimed Wanda Trilogy, which began in 2021 with WandaVision and continued in 2024 with Agatha All Along. VisionQuest, therefore, represents the third and final miniseries in this Marvel trilogy, but when is it set? How much time has passed since WandaVision?
How long after WandaVision is VisionQuest set? The showrunner explains
WandaVision is today regarded as one of Marvel’s most ambitious and successful projects. It began as a sort of black-and-white, sit-com–style romantic comedy, but quickly evolved into a science fiction drama that transformed Wanda Maximoff into Scarlet Witch. What happened in WandaVision also had consequences later, as shown in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness where Scarlet Witch clashed with Strange in her quest to recover her children lost across the Multiverse. In the meantime, Agatha All Along, streaming on Disney+ from 2024, followed the witch Agatha Harkness along the Path of the Witches as she sought the powers Wanda had inadvertently erased, aided by what would later be revealed to be Wanda’s own son, Wiccan.
VisionQuest will thus complete this television trilogy by focusing on White Vision, born from an experiment in WandaVision and later fused with Red Vision. In VisionQuest, Vision holds the memories of the other but does not carry his own emotions. Much like what happened in WandaVision, whose story unfolds under Wanda’s spell, in VisionQuest much of what we will see happens inside Vision’s mind, which has meanwhile built its own parallel reality where he seeks comfort. But how long after is VisionQuest set?
To address this question, showrunner Terry Matalas weighed in. As reported by Screen Rant, he admitted: “Years have passed since WandaVision. I’d say we’re roughly in line with Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” Between No Way Home and Brand New Day there are four years (in the film) during which Peter Parker endured extreme loneliness, with no friends or family nearby. Following this logic, Vision may too have spent many years in solitude.
WandaVision placed its events a few weeks after Avengers: Endgame, occurring after Wanda lost Vision. We do not know if the latter will reappear in VisionQuest, but it remains one of the strongest hopes among fans, who long for a family reunion for Vision, Wanda, and their children. We do know, however, that VisionQuest will also feature Tommy, one of the two twins.
