Here’s where we’ve seen the Grey’s Anatomy actor in other TV series
Patrick Dempsey, alias Derek Shepherd, born in 1966, hails from Lewiston, Maine. From an early age he battled dyslexia, a learning difficulty that caused him several problems at school but pushed him toward sports, helping him win the local ski championship. Not long after, he gravitated toward theater and realized that acting was his true vocation.
He made his on-screen debut in 1985 with the film Catholic Boys, and from there his career began to take shape. Over the years he has taken part in numerous projects for both cinema and television: in cinema (Scream 3, Tutta colpa dell’amore, Come d’incanto, Un amore di testimone, Appuntamento con l’amore, Transformers 3, Bridget Jones’s Baby, Come per disincanto – E vissero infelici e scontenti, Ferrari) and on television (Will & Grace, The Practice – Professione Avvocati), initially with small cameos or supporting roles and later with more substantial and leading parts.
In 2005 he joined the cast of the renowned TV series Grey’s Anatomy, portraying the neurosurgery chief Derek Shepherd, a role he held until 2015. Following the success of the medical drama, the actor went on to participate in other notable series such as The Truth About the Harry Quebert Case of 2018, Devils (2020-22), Dexter – Original Sin (2024-25), and Memory of a Killer of 2026, in which he plays Angelo Doyle, a man leading a dangerous double life.
On the romantic front, after an initial marriage, in 1999 he wed Jillian Fink, with whom he has three children.
