Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner spent a long time sharing the set of Game of Thrones, but they could have also starred in another TV Series of a different genre, which, unfortunately, never took off. To reveal more, it was the Arya Stark actress who, returning to cinema with the sequel to Love & Spells, shed light on the matter.
After Game of Thrones, Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner could have starred in another TV series: what went wrong
In Game of Thrones, Maisie Williams portrayed Arya Stark for eight seasons, just as Sophie Turner played Sansa Stark. The two sisters were separated for a long time and could only reunite toward the troubled end of Game of Thrones, joining forces to face the threat of the White Walkers with the support of Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow. Even though years have passed since the close of that chapter and both actresses’ careers have moved forward, Maisie Williams revealed in a recent interview that she would have loved to act in another TV series with Sophie Turner, which, however, was never developed.
Speaking to Collider, the actress talked about their interest in a comedy series, set in a cannabis shop and also involving a corpse. Unfortunately, the project never came to fruition: “We really looked for something. There was a series a few years ago that told the story of two girls who worked in a cannabis shop in California. I don’t remember exactly what happened. They found a corpse or something like that. It was a comedy, and it was hilarious.” But the future might offer them a new opportunity: “We are reading through a lot of material. I believe that at some point something will stick with us and we could return to sharing the screen together. It would be fantastic.”
So, it seems the two actresses are still on the lookout for a new project to tackle together after Game of Thrones. In the meantime, that TV universe continues to move forward on the small screen with two prequels: House of the Dragon, dedicated mainly to the Civil War that decimated the Targaryens, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms about the adventures of Dunk and Egg.
