Will He Return as Kurt? Chris Colfer on the Glee Reboot

Ryan Murphy had only suggested it, but the hypothesis became a certainty when the fate of Glee was revealed. The popular TV series musical premiered on screen in 2009 and ran for six seasons until 2015, Glee is set to return as a reboot that will once again involve its creator. But will there be room for the original names who contributed to its success? Lea Michele, for instance, has readily stated she would be open to resuming the role of Rachel Berry, and recently Chris Colfer also weighed in: he would be happy to be involved?

Glee, Chris Colfer hasn’t been contacted for the revival but what would he think about Kurt’s return?

Kurt Hummel might appear in the Glee reboot? It’s certainly a possibility, according to Chris Colfer, who played him for six seasons, though he harbors some concerns about the project. In an interview with Bustle, he explained that he hasn’t been contacted for the reboot yet: “I don’t know anything and I haven’t heard anything at all. I’d like to know more. It was a really challenging show to produce, and it would be really hard to pull off now that Naya Rivera is no longer with us. But I know Glee fans would probably come after me with torches if I said no.”

Glee has lost several cast members, beginning with Cory Monteith, whose untimely passing was addressed during the fifth season, also bidding farewell to his Finn character. Over the years, the cast has said goodbye to Mark Salling and Naya Rivera. Regarding the new version of Glee, Ryan Murphy had revealed that he had spoken with “about ten members of the original cast” about a possible return, but it seems Chris Colfer would not be on the list: “I don’t know anything, but I hope to have more information and to be able to think about it seriously,” he concluded.

Only a few weeks ago Ryan Murphy revealed that he had completed the screenplay for a possible revival of Glee, in collaboration with Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. Although he hadn’t received information from the creator, Chris Colfer remains on good terms with several members of the Glee cast: “I talk to someone from the cast almost every day. We exchange a lot of messages, memes, and photos of each other’s kids, but we try to meet up as often as possible.” Finally, he reflected on why Glee still carries such impact: “One of the secrets to Glee’s success was that so many kids identified with the characters and immersed themselves in that world, because for the first time they saw themselves represented on television. A beautiful bond with our audience was created.”
