The future of Marvel Studios appears clear when it comes to projects. With the end of the multiverse saga after ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ in 2027, the studio will prepare to focus its attention on a new field for Feige and company. What remains of the universe will have to face the mutant threat, and the X-Men will be a fundamental part of what is to come.
Some of the films and series have already pointed in that direction, and we have among us some key characters with the mutant gene fighting against government forces. The recent ‘Wonder Man’ and the Ms. Marvel series are examples. The goal of uniting the X-Men is up in the air, and Marvel has confirmed it with the announcement of one of the most important signings for its Phase 7: Samara Weaving makes the leap to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will be the popular heroine Emma Frost.
My X-Men
A squad must be composed of several members, and as admired as Weaving’s talent is, she cannot be the only one in charge. That is why another name is circulating strongly to bring life to one of their most important characters: the leader of the Cyclops squad, who could come to life with Kit Connor. Sources say the actor is already negotiating with Marvel to make it a reality and that official confirmation would be a matter of time.
Cyclops is one of the group’s most beloved members. In the Fox films he was portrayed by James Marsden, who will reprise the role in the anticipated ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. In the comics, however, his role has been much greater, especially in recent years, where he has even become a bona fide villain. Could Marvel Studios see that modern interpretation adapted to distinguish itself from the previous X-Men?
Phase 7 Gets Complicated
The announcement of these actors’ arrival coincides with projects we already know for sure, such as ‘Ghost Rider’ and ‘Black Panther 3’. Perhaps in one of them we’ll see Weaving or Connor for the first time, or perhaps we’ll have a huge surprise during ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’. Who knows? Right now Marvel Studios seems to want to play with intrigue, and it’s working.
