Yellowjackets Season 4: First Trailer for the Final Season — Survivors Return Home, But the Nightmare Is Far from Over

As November 20 draws near, Paramount+ teases the anticipation for the fourth and final season of Yellowjackets by releasing a new preview, a teaser trailer that foreshadows the moment the audience has awaited most from the acclaimed psychological thriller: the discovery and return home of the girls.

Yellowjackets 4: What to Expect in the Final Season

Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, Yellowjackets tells the story of a talented high school girls’ soccer team who, after a plane crash in the remote wilds of North America, find themselves fighting for their lives. Part survival narrative, psychological horror, and coming-of-age drama, the series follows the girls as they transform from a cohesive unit into increasingly fractured and ferocious groups. Simultaneously, it reveals the lives they have struggled to rebuild nearly 25 years later, underscoring the idea that the past is never truly gone and that what began in the wild is far from finished.

The fourth season will introduce a third timeline, depicting the moment when the girls are finally rescued after 19 months spent in the Canadian wilderness. The official synopsis hints that, as the rescuers close in on the location where they are stranded, the survivors endeavor to bury their sins before being saved. Meanwhile, an old flame returns to town with plans of her own. This makes it quite clear that not all homecomings are a reason for joy: this reunion will hurt.

The trailer release was teased through a rather curious stunt. The day prior, the official Yellowjackets accounts posted a fake MTV News report, featuring journalist Serena Altschul, to announce the discovery and rescue of the girls. The stunt was accompanied by a reinterpretation of Alanis Morissette’s performance of Ironic from MTV Unplugged in 1999, with the singer appearing to dedicate the song to the young survivors. The same song accompanies the fourth-season teaser, but in a version enriched with an unreleased audio contribution recorded specifically by Morissette for the occasion and integrated into the original performance. The artist had already collaborated on the show’s soundtrack by performing a version of No Return, the track that serves as the theme song, for the second season.
