Young, Catholic and Possessed in The Body: What Happens in Netflix’s Horror Series Trailer

Disturbing visions, blood, secrets to conceal, and the growing doubt that the devil could truly be among them. The official Italian trailer for The Body, Netflix’s new horror series, promises to drag viewers into an adolescent nightmare where nothing is as it seems. Set to arrive on November 11, 2026, the series blends teen-drama vibes, psychological thriller tension, and demonic insinuations against the backdrop of the early 2000s. Watch the clip below.

The Official Trailer for The Body: Lucifer Is Among Us

The trailer for The Body opens with a provocative question: “Can a person truly come into contact with the devil?” The teacher’s reply, suggesting that Lucifer wouldn’t be a true foe if he couldn’t be summoned, foreshadows the dark events that will engulf the protagonists. At the heart of the story is a high school dance team preparing auditions to recruit new members. Among them are Grace (Sofia Wylie) and Lisbeth (Geena Meszaros). But a masked party organized for the initiation rite ends badly, forcing the girls to hide what happened, including the presence of drugs. Meanwhile, tension escalates: Elise (Sara Boustany) is taken away in unsettling circumstances during what appears to be a religious service or initiation ritual, while the question “What happened to Grace?” becomes increasingly urgent. The trailer closes with Maddie (Shirley Chen) searching online for an explanation: “My friend is possessed by the devil?”

The Body: The Plot of the Horror Series

Created by Quinn Shephard (already behind projects such as Not Okay and Under the Bridge) and comprising 8 episodes, The Body is a series that fuses coming-of-age storytelling with psychological and supernatural horror. Centered on a group of Catholic schoolgirls with challenging personalities, the show explores deep friendships, rivalries, and the longing to find their place within the school. Their lives take a radical turn after a rite of initiation linked to a dance team that ends in the worst possible way. What should have been a moment of belonging and solidarity becomes a traumatic event destined to leave unpredictable consequences. Soon after, the girls begin to experience prophetic visions, and their town is swept by a wave of fear and collective hysteria.

The Cast and Characters of The Body

The cast of The Body comprises a young lineup, many of whom are relative newcomers. Among the leads are Sofia Wylie, portraying Grace, one of the central figures of the story, and Geena Meszaros, as Lisbeth, the standout during the dance team auditions. Sara Boustany plays Elise, a focal point of one of the most unsettling moments shown in the trailer, while Shirley Chen portrays Maddie, the student who searches online for answers to the suspicion that her friend may be possessed. Completing the group are Kristina Bogic and Gabby Windey, the latter known for winning the reality show The Traitors in the United States. The ensemble also includes Nnamdi Asomugha, Jackson Kelly, Orlando Norman, Emily Roman, Kyra and Phallon Pierce, Bella Neuspiel, and Sarah Abbot. Behind the scenes, the series is guided by Quinn Shephard, with executive producers including Amy Israel, Peter Chernin, and Josh Stern, along with Riley Keough, Gina Gammell, and Sacha Ben Harroche.
