Wherever you look you can’t stop seeing her face. Zendaya isn’t going anywhere and proves she is the actress of the moment with every announcement of her involvement in more and more films. Today we have another to add to her list of upcoming projects, and beware, because it could be of special interest for her career. She is the top signing for the next project by Alex Garland, the director of ‘Civil War’.
The film still lacks an official title and no, we’re not talking about ‘Elden Ring’, although in our minds it would have fit the role of Melina the maiden. This is another Garland project in collaboration with the studio A24, one categorized in the science fiction genre. Filming is planned for next year, though there is currently no indicative release date. Nor have other cast members who would accompany Zendaya been confirmed.
Big Moment
This 2026 has been a titanic year for the actress, probably the biggest of her career. In a matter of months she has emerged as a standout member of the cast of the year’s biggest hits, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and with her husband Tom Holland in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’. Not to mention one of her more personal projects, The Drama, and the one expected to be another major success in the coming months, Dune 3.
For Alex Garland, too, it has been a busy year, though not to the same extent as his new star. This 2025 he released ’28 Years Later: The Temple of the Bones’, closely followed by its predecessor last year. In both, he has worked as producer and screenwriter, leaving directing duties to Nia DaCosta and Danny Boyle. However he will return to the director’s chair for both ‘Elden Ring’ and this new science‑fiction production, which of course he will also write.
Bright Future
Beyond these recent roles, Zendaya has another secured part for the coming year: Felicia, the daughter of the most famous ogre in ‘Shrek 5’. It doesn’t seem the months ahead will allow her to unwind, and she’ll have to work hard to win the recognition she has fought hard for over the last decade. Perhaps this new project will help her aim higher and steer toward the big awards.
